My mother endured a lot and can be very tough, she is now 87 years old, she is actually a big sweetheart who watched a lot of the neighborhood kids for working parents. They came to call her Titi, (spanish slang for Aunt, and a lot of these kids weren't latino). She had a great sense of humor which has not left her even though at this stage she remembers little, (she does not recognize me when I visit her).
